Cranbrook Tourism is inviting you to the grand opening of their new Visitor Information Centre on Baker Street Saturday afternoon.
Executive director Kristy Jahn-Smith says you can check out all the services the visitor centre is offering in its new downtown location.
“We’re really excited to be at the end of Baker Street providing visitor information services, but also information for local residents on things to do in Cranbrook and area,” Jahn-Smith says. “We’re hosting an open house, we’re inviting the public to come in and see what we have in this open space.”
The open house is happening Saturday from 11:00 am – 3:00 pm at 800C Baker Street, next to Cranbrook photo – there will be food and drinks and contests for kids.
In January, the City and Cranbrook Tourism agreed to a Fee for Service agreement to operate the visitor centres at Elizabeth Lake and downtown.

Cranbrook Tourism would like to invite members of the public to the grand opening for our new Visitor Information Centre (VIC) at 800C Baker Street on Saturday, May 14th from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Residents and visitors can come check out the new centre, grab some #explorecranbrook stickers and postcards, take a trail map and experience guide, and check out all the other services and information offered at the local VIC for those looking to experience Cranbrook, or travel beyond the community’s boundaries.
“We are really excited to showcase our new visitor centre, which we envision becoming a staple of a vibrant Baker Street,” said Visitor Services Manager Shaun Penner. “Offering this modern space which will draw visitors into our vibrant and growing downtown core will allow them to experience the charm of Cranbrook’s historical downtown while learning about all the great attractions and services the community offers.”
Many activities will be offered during the open house, including free popcorn and lemonade for anyone who stops by. There will also be a youth ambassador contest, where kids can share what their favourite things about Cranbrook are for a chance to win a gift card to Twisted Peaks Frozen Yogurt (and even have the chance to be part of a video showcasing why visitors should come to Cranbrook!).
There will also be a draw for a one night stay and a round of golf for two at St. Eugene Mission Resort at the event.
We look forward to welcoming everyone this coming Saturday!
