The City of Cranbrook has released it’s first ever business plan.
The plan lists the annual budget, revenue and expenses of the City’s departments and sets the services they will deliver to residents.
Mayor Lee Pratt says this will be a useful tool to streamline the City’s annual budgeting process.
“[Previously] All the directors in the different departments had to come to council and tell them what their requests were and what they were going to do with their money and what their annual plans were,” Pratt says. “This way they put it all together in a nice business plan that we can refer back to rather then just at a budget meeting. It’s a great plan, it looks good, and it’s something we can refer back to if need be.”
Pratt says the plan will be updated every year.
“It’s been a while getting it ready to where it is today, but I think now that it’s in place and the format of it’s established it will be something we see every year,” he says. “A lot of people don’t pay attention to it, but some do. And those that do, this will really explain it further to them.”
