The BC Wildfire Service is reporting a new fire north of of Lake Koocanusa.
The small 0.01 hectare fire is located on the north end of the lake, it was discovered Monday near Jaffray/Baynes Lake Road.
This is one of three active wildfires in the East Kootenay; a human caused blaze near Galloway Forest Service Road is under control, the other fire west of Invermere is also listed as under control and is human caused.
All three active fires in the East Kootenay are smaller than 1 hectare.
