One of the key components to the Cranbrook Bucks mix of forwards this season is setting out a path for his future in hockey.
Kellan Hjartarson has committed to NCAA Division 1 Bentley University in Waltham, Massachusetts.
The talented 2003-born forward has 27 points through 38 games with Cranbrook this season.
He says his time with the BCHL club will ensure he is set to move up to the collegiate level when he ages out of junior hockey.
“It’s been great, obviously since I got here in September it’s been nothing but help from the coaching staff, help from my teammates,” Hjartarson says. “I’ve played with a lot of confidence since I’ve been here, it couldn’t have prepared me more.”
Hjartarson garnered interest from other post-secondary institutions, but eventually settled on Bentley after viewing the campus and meeting with hockey personnel.
“I got to go down to Bentley earlier this week and tour the campus and facility, it just seemed like the right fit,” says Hjartarson. “I just couldn’t pass up on an opportunity like that.”
The Bucks are back in action Friday night to begin a double-header with the Vipers in Vernon.
