Today, we look at Hailey’s Cupcakes in Cranbrook.
Why have our listeners nominated this business? – “Hailey does fundraisers for animal rescue organizations throughout the Kootenays. She did one for the puppies from Creston with parvo. Those puppies are now healthy and happy and in foster care.”
Hailey’s Cupcakes started about three years ago when owner Hailey Walker began baking cupcakes at home.
From there, she moved her work into What’s For Dinner, a business owned by her Aunt Brenda Palmer.
Walker says Hailey’s Cupcakes soon became popular enough to become its own full-time business, due to a surprising demand for customized cupcakes in Cranbrook.
“Besides home bakers and grocery stores, there aren’t a lot of options for customized cakes or cupcakes in Cranbrook,” Walker says. “I think what makes my business stand out is the endless possibilities for customization and I really enjoy working with my customers to create their vision on flavour or design, whether its for a small birthday party of for a big wedding.”
Walker says her business only focuses on cakes and cupcakes, giving her the opportunity to offer a huge variety of flavours, each with a signature presentation.
“I think having the ability to have a storefront presence where customers can come in and purchase the cupcakes and talk about their custom orders and there is a display case, I think that’s something that’s unique to Cranbrook as well,” Walker says.
