A changing of the guard for Fernie Fire and Emergency Services.
The City is introducing Brendan Morgan as acting chief of the fire department.
Morgan brings two decades of fire service experience in Fernie to the role.
“I moved to Fernie in 2000, and at that time I joined the department as an auxiliary fire fighter,” says Morgan. “After that, I got hired on as a career firefighter in 2002, and from there I just worked my way up to training officer.”
Morgan says he’s enjoying his new job, and wants to be a champion for mental health in the fire department and for FireSmart initiatives in the community.
“It’s quite busy this first week,” Morgan says. “I have some really big shoes to fill and I have lots to learn. I’m looking forward to the challenge.”
Additionally, Bill Pittman joins the department during the transition in a role as deputy chief.
Pittman most recently served as deputy chief for the Hamilton Fire Department.
