Emergency department at Elkford Health Centre closed temporarily until further notice

The Elkford Health Centre emergency department will be closed temporarily, effective Wednesday, September 29th and until further notice.

The closure is due to limited staffing availability. The Elkford Health Centre will remain open for scheduled primary care appointments, lab and X-ray services.

Interior Health continues to recruit additional permanent and casual staff and physicians to Elkford.

In the event of an emergency, residents are advised to call 9-1-1 and visit the emergency department at either the Sparwood Health Centre or the Elk Valley Hospital in Fernie.

You can also call HealthLinkBC at 811 if you are unsure about your need to go to the emergency department.
