
Kootenay-Columbia’s MP is making it official.
Rob Morrison of the Conservative party has won the riding following Monday’s election, Morrison has now won to straight federal elections in Kootenay-Columbia.
Morrison is disappointed the Tories didn’t produce better results nationally, but says the party will hold the minority Liberal government to account in Ottawa.
“It would have been nice to see the Conservative majority or even a Conservative minority government, but it’s across Canada,” explains Morrison. “Now it’s our job to hold the minority Liberal government accountable and trying to move forward with what’s important for us in our riding, in Kootenay-Columbia.”
He says it’s time to spur job creation in the local riding, and to help the tourism sector in Kootenay-Columbia.
“Trying to get people back to work, getting the economy going, opening up our country safely so we can [help] our tourism sector,” Morrison says, listing some of his priorities. “Really, just building the economy up so we can pay some of the debt back
Morrison won the local riding with over 26,000 votes for 43.8% in Kootenay-Columbia, beating NDP candidate Wayne Stetski who earned just over 22,000 votes, or 36,2%.
